We at Weka Marine are always looking at professional growth and personal development for our team. We try and focus on both the job-specific skills and have our people develop for themselves, often outside their job, as well.
We pride ourselves with having our welders train to their necessary certificate levels and our colleagues from the office join in project management training for example. These certifications help Weka by ensuring the work being performed is up to standards for our industry and confirming for our team that they’re doing the best job they can.

The flip side of the coin is our focus on personal development, with courses such as Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). While NLP might be beneficial to Weka because it aids people in expressing, communicating and leadership, it’s mostly beneficial to the individual.
NLP might help our people grow closer to their true self and help them break limiting patterns in both personal or professional life. Giving our team the chance to work on themselves, creates a safe and creative environment focused on development where our colleagues are able, and willing, to go the extra mile if necessary.

One of our recent milestones in creating a positive environment to develop yourself is our SBB Certification. We are now able to welcome students from MBO levels 1-4 to our workplace for internships, giving them the chance to find out what type of career they like and gain valuable experience, even before graduating.
